Welcome to the second part of our look at the Lootpack's 1999 album 'Soundpieces: Da Antidote' produced by Madlib.
'Speaker Smashin'' edits Roger Troutman's vocoder-rich Zapp hit 'Computer Love' from 'The New Zapp IV U'. The reverend Al Green is sampled by the Lootpack on 'Wanna Test' - Madlib plucks the 'Al Green is Love' album track 'I Wish You Were Here'. The Lootpack dig deep for jazz man David Newman's 'The Thirteenth Floor' for 'Episodes'.
Though this would be the only Lootpack full length, it would not be the last word from its members. Lootpack's Wildchild would go on to release solo records and Madlib would record a series of albums under various aliases in various styles (including Yesterdays New Quintet, DJ Rels, and Quasimoto among others) and would produce tracks for De La Soul, Ghostface Killah, MF Doom, J Dilla, and many others.
